This poker column has been running in The Guardian for seven years. For basic strategy advice, scroll to the end (September 2005) and read upwards. It gets gradually more complicated, including tournament reports and anecdotes as well as hand analysis, but is all intended mainly for the recreational player.

Victoria Coren Mitchell is a British television presenter, author, and international poker player. She started writing stories and columns at a young age for the Daily Telegraph. She then branched out to broadcasting and began adapting plays for stage. Victoria Coren was born in 1973 in Hammersmith, England. Her biggest achievement at the poker tables to date is winning the European Poker Tour London Main Event in 2006. She became the first woman to ever win the EPT trophy. Victoria Coren Mitchell joined in more than 58 live tournaments in sum. That makes him the # 44 poker player in England and # 692 in the alltime money list. His greatest success was winning more than USD 941,513.00 in one poker tournament.
